Description   Elderton make some of the world's most famous Shiraz and Cabernet, this time they have taken aim with some of the most superlative fruit to provide an easy drinking, premium red wine for everyday enjoyment. E Series is designed to offer a contemporary, stylish, yet uncomplicated approach to the great Aussie Shiraz Cabernet. The E stands for the key elements that are central to the winemaking and viticultural practices at Elderton. Enjoyment and elegance, ergonomic and economic, with the accent on environmental sustainability Shiraz and Cabernet from good vineyards are harvested and brought quickly to the winery to ensure that fresh fruit characters are captured and retained within the finished wine. Supplementary irrigation and strict canopy management enable the grapes to reach a baumé of 14° to14.5°, offering rich complex flavours. The fruit is crushed, destemmed and treated to six days temperature controlled fermentation in overhead potter fermenting vessels. Upon completion, the wine is transferred into seasoned American oak barrels for several months of maturation where it develops complex yet delicate vanilla and coconut characters whilst remaining essentialy a fruit driven Shiraz Cabernet. Approx 14.0% Colour is a dark purple/ magenta mix. Nose of berries and violet, cedar and cinnamon. Lovely palate, ripe and sweet with good fruit showing plummy richness and sweet, dark cherries. Flavours of boysenberry and raspberry layered against the delicate spiceyness, balanced by supple velvety tannins. A spell under American oak has softened the wine, rounded the fruit and imparted subtle complexities. Enjoy today with barbecues, antipasto and pizza.
