Stephen Tanzer 90:
Saturated red-ruby. Dark berries, licorice and spicy oak on the nose. Juicy and tightly wound, with firm acids framing the intense dark berry and licorice flavors. A bit youthfully hard today, finishing with solid tannic spine and a slight dryness. A serious Rioja that needs at least a couple years of additional bottle aging. - Sept/Oct 2005
