This full-bodied, rich effort is an impressive example of Yakima Valley Syrah. It should drink well for 6-8 years." (Jun 2008) About two-thirds of the fruit for DeLille Cellars' 2005 "Doyenne" Syrah comes from Washington's Red Mountain AVA. This wine gets its blackish-purple opaque color from the addition of 3% viognier, which creates a chemical reaction that concentrates the wine's color. Layers of white pepper, white flowers, stone fruit and orange zest complement the dark fruit on the nose and palate. Distinct, balanced and age-worthy, you can see why this feminine wine is the leader of the pack.
